Q) What is a HYEX Universal Terminal Station (UTS)?
The HYEX UTS is a pre-engineered package of components installed at the exit end of a buried horizontal landfill gas conduit to allow easy access for TV inspection and pipe cleaning, as well as to provide separation of liquid and gas effluents for dependable vacuum adjustment to the horizontal line.
Q) Can I install a HYEX UTS on any type of horizontal gas conduit?
Yes. Adapters are provided to connect with whatever size and pipe material exiting the landfill.
Q) Do I need specially-trained personnel to install the UTS?
No. Average landfill employees can connect all of the parts provided with usual hand tools. Pipe welds are factory made. A backhoe is required to dig about 8 feet (2.4 meters) deep for the barometric trap.
Q) Is all engineering provided with the UTS?
Yes. Landfill Service Corporation will collect the necessary gas system data from the landfill operator, and pre-engineer the various components to suit the site specific requirements.
Q) Why should I install a HYEX UTS?
Only the HYEX UTS provides an integrated structural grade vault with high-quality flex couplings, valves, and wyes for inspection and maintenance, together with a pre-engineered barometric trap with landfill gas wellhead for liquid gas separation and horizontal well-tuning. This eliminates the failures often associated with non-integrated terminals.
