Airspace Savings Data

For each 10,000 square foot of coverage area (a typical working face), the savings of 6 inches of daily cover soil equals 185 cubic yards of landfill airspace or volume. At a typical compaction rate of 1,200 pounds per cubic yard, this equals the volume for about 111 tons of waste. For a 600 ton per day landfill, this represents an annual airspace savings of approximately $1.1 million dollars!

The savings for replacement of 12-inch thick intermediate soil cover layers produces equally
dramatic benefits.
